Tri Santa Cruz – Race Report

What better way to kick off my beautiful marriage with a sprint triathlon on our home court here in Santa Cruz!

Put on by Finish Line Productions, this sprint was topping off to be a beautiful race! Back in 2013 I raced this Olympic and had a horrific day! The swim was despicable…I swam tarzan style the entire time due to my fear of the unknown (ocean). Then, I received two flats on the bike without proper training on my CO2 inflator. Just brutal. Needless to say, this was time for payback!

Swim – 750 meters (1,100 actual meters) – 18:53:11870715_10153545493520948_2987666181419180510_n

Due to the lifeguard setting the last turn at the third buoy and not the second buoy, this lengthened the swim course significantly. Good for me I’ve been swimming hard 100’s and 200’s as of late so I was ready for the chop near the turnaround and my sighting was spot on!

T1 – 59.5 – I count the run back to Depot Park as the transition:

PR’d a 5k off the bike. Felt awful for the first mile plus. Literally thought I was going to hurl my Gatorade and Gu. Major props to Tuesday night workouts at Soquel High School Track!!!!
